The alderman race gets intense as Alex and Bertram duke it out at the Berwyn Red Line stop and Val and Rex stump for them at the bar. Mark and Angeles discover they are finally comfortable together. When Natalie finds out she can’t get pregnant, she asks Frank, a transman, to carry the baby. He balks at the idea, and things grow cold between them. While Lainey continues to struggle to bond with Tess, Joey volunteers to babysit on his and Brad’s anniversary which puts their relationship in jeopardy. Clark and Kent take a less than satisfying trip to a bed and breakfast when Clark gets locked in the bathroom. Lainey is visited by her great aunt Maude at Terrence and Greg’s gravesite and is given some advice on what it means to be a mother and what it means to not be a mother. Everybody comes out for Brad and Joey’s barbecue, but the festivities turn grim when they overhear the couple having a violent fight and Joey returns with a black eye. |
